When
calling in re-stakes, revise the ticket to exclude those areas where work
has been completed.

Excavation includes all forms of grading, trenching, digging, ditching,
auguring, scraping, directional boring, and pile driving.

When
digging within 24” of located marks, use non-mechanized equipment only.

When
crossing facilities, expose facilities at the point of crossing. Leave
“point of crossing” exposed until work is completed.

When
directional boring, ensure that a minimum 2’ buffer is maintained during
back reaming process.

When
paralleling facilities, pot-hole frequently (every 5-10’ is recommended).

Determining the depth of facility is the responsibility of the excavator.

If a
damage occurs, excavator must halt work immediately and notify both the
GAUPC and the affected utility.

PSC is the enforcing agent of the Georgia
Utility Facility Protection Act (GUFPA). Violations are subject to a
maximum of $10,000 per occurrence.

Not all
facility owner/operations will locate their service lines from the meter to
the address (the service line or lateral leaving the meter or main to the
address is generally considered a private line and the excavator should
employ a private locate service to mark those lines).
